Local Businessman Eclipses STARS Fundraiser Goal

Congratulations to Garth MacDonald for successfully raising $205,250 for the STARS Air Ambulance service.

MacDonald from G-Mac’s Ag team Inc. surpassed his personal goal of $200,000 on September 13 when he participated in the fundraising event playfully called Rescue on the Prairie.

As a part of this event, MacDonald and four participants were flown from the STARS Regina hanger to Beaver Creek Ranch. There, they met their STARS partner in the effort. MacDonald’s partner was Flight Paramedic Jordan Edgerton of Netherhill, SK.  Armed only with a cellphone each, the participants raised funds by calling supporters for donations to STARS.

By the end of the day, MacDonald and the other four participants raised $524,662 and so were “rescued” by STARS, and escorted to a celebratory banquet.

The other participants in the Rescue on the Prairie were Tyler Crozier, JoeAnne Hardy, Sarah Johnston, and Dale Ziegler.

The over $500,000 raised by the participants will go towards the $10.5 Million dollar figure needed to keep STARS up in the air.
