Luseland Heard Kindersley Red Lions Roar

The Kindersley Red Lions have started out as their October 21 exhibition game with the Luseland Mallards saw the Lions taking control of the ice with a stunning 11-2 win.

The Lions now aim to wow their hometown fans at their season opener with the Wilkie Outlaws on Friday, November 3. The Outlaws were previously a tough opponent for the Red Lions, and a strong team in the league, placing C and B in the Provincials three years running. The Lions look to make this year different, and they are off to a good start as the energetic team already has one win and several hours of individual practice under its belt.

“The boys are excited and ready to get more action,” says Coach Wayne Sampson. “They’ve been renting the ice and practising on the ice for weeks now, not necessarily for team practise as much as for individual practise and warm-ups.” The team’s exhibition game showed that practice and energy certainly paid off.

After they face the Outlaws on Friday, the Lions will have their first away game on Saturday at 8:00 p.m., hosted by the Macklin Mohawks. I look forward to seeing what the Lions can this weekend!

Be sure to cheer the Lions on at their first home game of the season, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3 at the West Central Events Centre.
