Nominations Open for Merit Award

Last Friday, Lieutenant Governor W. Thomas Molloy announced that nominations for the Saskatchewan Order of Merit will be accepted until November 1, 2018. The submitted nomination forms will be for the future 2019 recipients.

“The Saskatchewan Order of Merit enables us to recognize our most outstanding citizens,” Molloy said in a recent media release.  “Our province is full of committed individuals who have made our home a better place. I encourage everyone to consider nominating a deserving person for our highest honour.”

The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was established in 1985 to recognize residents who bring excellence, achievement, and contributions to the cultural, social and economic well-being of Saskatchewan.

In past years, recipients have been recognized in areas such as the arts, business & industry, agriculture and volunteer service, just to name a few.

Any individual or group can submit a nomination, but the nomination must be for an individual, not an organization. The nominee should be a current long-term resident of Saskatchewan or at least a former resident with a previously substantial amount of years in the province. If a group or organization would like to posthumously nominate an individual, nominations are accepted within one year of the individual’s date of passing.

The recipients of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit will be announced by the Lieutenant Governor at a ceremony in the spring of 2019.
