The Klippers won 4-3 in their rematch with the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday night, breaking their losing stretch of 5 games with a well-deserved victory.
Kindersley pulled ahead right at the start, ending the first period with a 1-0 lead. Then, just three minutes into the second, they pulled ahead with another goal. The Bombers scored their first goal of the game shortly afterwards, but the Klippers persevered and made it to the end of the second period with a strong 3-1 lead. At that point, they took their foot “off the gas,” says Blaine Formadas of the Klippers, and the Bombers brought the score to a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation. However, the Klippers were far from defeated, digging down deep and taking the game 4-3 in the overtime. The shots were at 34-60 for the Klippers.
After losing the game to the Bombers on Friday night, Formadas says the Klippers “made some adjustments” and proved themselves to be strong players. Formadas said the results were a “real, real, good show of character.”
“Overall, we’re pretty happy with the boys.”
Formadas says it’s all a matter of buying into what the other team is trying to do, and playing within a structure. Way to go, Klippers!
