Santa’s Hut: West Central Crisis & Family Support Center

By Rina Rast, Kindersley Social, November 8, 2016

The West Central Crisis & Family Support Center is holding its Santa’s Hut on December 17, 2016.

Santa’s Hut will be open from 9:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth School.

For the last 23 years, Santa’s Hut has been raising funds for resources, services, and free counseling for local families. The Crisis Center accepts donations of new items and then makes them available to children for sale at reduced prices. The prices for gifts range from 25 cents to $6.00, and children aged 0-14 are all welcome customers.

Misty Leismeister of the West Central Crisis and Family Support Center explains that Santa’s Hut is designed to be inclusive to all children. “We wanted to make sure all the kids felt equal,” she said. Young children are assisted by volunteers to shop for their parents, grandparents, and siblings.

The Crisis Center accepts both monetary donations and brand-new gifts. Leismeister noted that gifts for dads and teens are always especially needed, but all types of gifts are welcome. Anyone interested in donating could drop off donations at the mall office, or the Crisis Center. It is requested that monetary donations be taken directly to the Crisis Center.
