UPDATE: Missing Man Walter Ansell Has Been Found

UPDATE – November 7, 5:00PM

After being located through the search efforts, missing person Walter Ansell was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

At present, the police do not see any indication of foul play. However, the investigation into the incident continues. The RCMP thank the public and media for their assistance in locating Ansell.  

November 7, 3:30PM

Missing person Walter Ansell was located and is in good condition, Kindersley RCMP confirmed this afternoon. The Kindersley RCMP thank all media and the public for their help in locating Ansell. More information to be released soon.   

November 7, 11:30AM

In the late evening of November 6, the Kindersley RCMP was notified that missing person Walter Ansell’s vehicle was located a few kilometers west of the Alberta border. The vehicle was an Orange 2014 Hyundai Veloster.

After attending the location, the Oyen RCMP confirmed that Ansell’s vehicle and dog, Cheeco, were located northeast of Esther, Alberta on Range Road 320, roughly 30 kilometers from the Alberta/Saskatchewan Border.

Walter Ansell has not yet been located and the Alberta Police Dog Services and Alberta Air Rescue are on scene and engaged in actively searching for him.

Ansell is about 5’7”, and has a medium build, grey hair, balding on top, with a bushy moustache and glasses. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a grey jacket, black denim jeans, and a hat.

November 7, 10:00AM 

As of yet, Walter Ansell has not been located. A large amount of follow-up was undertaken over the weekend, including round-the-clock patrols in all dispatch areas, and air search by Saskatoon Search and Rescue Air Service. The search for Walter Ansell continues and the file remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the missing person is asked to contact the Kindersley RCMP (306-463-4642) or their local police force.

November 5, 2016 

The Kindersley RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 75-year-old Walter Ansell, who has been reported as missing.

Ansell, a resident of Carbon, Alberta, left his home on November 4, 2016 to visit a family member at a rural location within the RM of Harts Hill, Saskatchewan.

He was last seen at 5:00 PM on November 4, asking for directions to his destination at land location 16-34-27 W3. At the time he was roughly 2 km from his destination, travelling in the wrong direction, northbound on Highway 317 toward Primate, Saskatchewan.

Ansell is about 5’7” with a medium build, grey hair, and balding on top. He has a bushy mustache and wears glasses. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a grey jacket, black denim jeans, and a hat.

He has driving an orange 2014 Hyundai Veloster car, accompanied by his Pomeranian/Chihuahua cross dog by the name of Cheeco. His Albertan license plate is BPK 5276.

Ansell has a medical condition which requires him to take medication, but it has not yet been determined if he had his medication with him.
