Mark McMorris soars into Winter X Games lore with record-tying medal

Regina native equals Shaun White’s 18-medal mark with big air silver
Canada’s Mark McMorris soared into snowboarding lore on Saturday, earning his 18th individual Winter X Games medal to equal Shaun White’s mark in Aspen, Colo.
McMorris matched the record with a silver in snowboard big air; fellow Canadian Max Parrot took gold in the event.
Entering the competition, McMorris, 26, had a chance to surpass White’s haul, but the two-time Olympic medallist finished seventh in the slopestyle event held earlier in the day.
