Spring road restrictions begin

As warmer weather sweeps in, spring road restrictions begin.

Effective today, March 9th restrictions are back to normal regulation weight. Weather permitting, winter weights will be removed province-wide on March 15th.

Spring road restrictions are dependent on weather and are put into place by the province of Saskatchewan to prevent damage to  both highways and rural roads. Typically, these road restrictions start in the southwest of the province, with the remainder following over a two-three week period.

As weather varies throughout the north and south of the province, it is important for drivers to be aware as dates may vary for when the primary weights are in effect. It is also important to note that restrictions may change with 48-hours-notice.

If drivers are unsure about current restrictions, they can call the Highway Hotline or 5-1-1, for up-to-date information.
