Obituaries: Carrie (Marchant) Francis

October 12, 1932 ~ June 14, 2020 (age 87)

Carrie Francis, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2020. She was born on October 12, 1932, in Alsask, Sask. to Wilfred and Goldie Marchant. She married her childhood sweetheart and lifetime partner, Thomas William Francis, on October 26, 1950.

Carrie is survived by, Tom, her husband of almost 70 years, their son Bill (Judy) and their sons Ryan(Kim), David (Sam), and Chris (Amber), their son Dean (Fran) and their family, Sean (Coralie), Chelsey (Justin), their son Jack (Cheryl) and their family, James (Jessica), Lisa (Dan), Michael (Becky) and Stuart, their daughter Cindy (Chris) Thomson and sons Mathew (Edward), Sean, and Aaron (Zoey). She also leaves to mourn 17 great-grandchildren and her many nephews and nieces, treasured friends and neighbors, all of whom she loved deeply.

Carrie was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She treasured family and embraced every moment with them. She was an excellent cook and always made room at her table. Carrie had a strong work ethic and even into her later years it was difficult to keep up with her pace. Making pies was something that gave her great pleasure and she shared these with family, friends, and neighbors as a symbol of her love. Carrie enjoyed plants and gardening, making jams and jellies, and had a special passion for quilting. She belonged to the Laporte quilters group for over 20 years where she made lasting friendships and it provided her endless hours of enjoyment.

The family would like to thank everyone for their support, phone calls, and letters in the weeks after Carrie’s diagnosis. She was amazed and honored by all of your kind words. Special thanks to nieces Sherry Craney and Marilyn Resch who gave her extra care and attention. The family would also like to thank the exceptional staff of Eatonia Oasis Living, of Eatonia Home Care, and Delia Massey for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism.

There will be a private family graveside service (respecting the Provincial Health Authority COVID-19 guidelines).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Eatonia Oasis Living care home in Carrie’s name.
