Capitals Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist Will Undergo Open-Heart Surgery

Lundqvist, signed a one-year deal to join the Capitals after spending 15 seasons with the New York Rangers.

Washington Capitals goaltender Henrik Lundqvist will undergo open-heart surgery to address the issue that will prevent him from playing this NHL season.

Lundqvist announced Monday on Twitter that he will undergo an “aortic valve replacement, aortic root and ascending aortic replacement.”
