Current Power Rankings

The SJHL Power Rankings are decided each and every week by a group of SJHL broadcasters and will be released each Tuesday.

1. Flin Flon Bombers 23-1-2-0 (Last Week 1st):

The number one team in the SJHL and CJHL (according to the CJHL Top 20 rankings) continues to roll. Another three victories at home this past week for Flin Flon as they continue to find different ways to win. Carter Anderson found the back of the net seven times in the three games, including a four goal game Friday against Yorkton. Flin Flon will be on the road Wednesday in La Ronge and then return home for two games this weekend against Weyburn.

2. Battlefords North Stars 19-7-2-1 (Last Week 2nd):

After earning a massive 8-2 win over the Notre Dame Hounds earlier in the week, the North Stars dropped a pair of games at home on the weekend to Estevan and Melville. However, both came in overtime and gave the Stars two valuable points. Kian Bell continues to rack up the points as he sits 2nd in the SJHL with 42 (in just 16 games) and Captain Tanner Gold has quietly moved into 2nd in scoring among Defenceman. The North Stars have the week off and will return to action on Tuesday, December 12th when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.

3. Humboldt Broncos 17-6-2-1 (Last Week 3rd):

“Broncos country, let’s ride,” is a term made famous by Denver Broncos Quarterback Russel Wilson. For the Humboldt Broncos they have taken that statement literally for the last five weeks as they have spent most of their time on the road. This past week they played 3 in 3 and earned two wins in La Ronge before dropping the finale in Flin Flon. The good news for Humboldt is their extended time of the road is over and now they will return to the EPA for the rest of the month. They will be home to Yorkton Tuesday night and Melville on Saturday.

4. Melfort Mustangs 17-9-2-0 (Last Week 4th):

It was a perfect weekend for the Melfort Mustangs as they earned two victories over the Notre Dame Hounds. Those points are extremely valuable as the Mustangs inch closer to the Humboldt Broncos in the standings. SGEU MVP of the Week Logan Belton led the charge for the Mustangs this past week, finding the back of the net four times and adding five assists. Melfort will be home to Estevan on Wednesday, Kindersley Friday, and then on the road to Yorkton for a game with the Terriers Saturday.

5. Kindersley Klippers 12-11-2-2 (Last Week 8th):

Broom sales are on the rise in Kindersley as they swept their week of home games at the West Central Events Centre. Wins over Notre Dame, Melville, and Estevan have the Klippers flying into 5th place in the SJHL standings. The number one line of Tylin Hilbig, Logan Linklater, and Keenan Ingram continue to rack up the points, with all three in the Top 20 in league scoring. Kindersley will be back on the road this weekend for games in Melfort Friday and La Ronge Saturday.

6. Melville Millionaires 13-11-0-0 (Last Week 5th):

After being shutout in Kindersley Friday night the Melville Millionaires bounced back with a big win in North Battleford over the North Stars in overtime. William Dyke has been a strong backbone for the Mills this season and his strong play this week earned him Sasktel Goalie of the Week honours. Despite it only being December 5th, Melville only has two games remaining before their holiday break. Their lone game this week is in Humboldt on Saturday night.

7. Nipawin Hawks 13-13-0-1 (Last Week 6th):

Just the one game this past week for the Nipawin Hawks as they dominated the Yorkton Terriers winning 6-3 last Tuesday. With that being said, it wasn’t a quiet week for the club as Head Coach and General Manager Tad Kozun went out and acquired La Ronge Ice Wolves Captain Liam McInnis to bolster their blue line. They also moved out 20-year-old forward Joel Mabin to the Melville Millionaires. The Hawks will return to the ice on Wednesday when they meet the Weyburn Red Wings at the Cage. They will then be home to Estevan for a pair over the weekend.

8. Estevan Bruins 11-11-0-2 (Last Week 9th):

The Estevan Bruins will continue a big stretch of road games this week playing three of four. Estevan split their games this past weekend earning a victory in the Battlefords and then fell in Kindersley. The Bruins are currently in the middle of a battle for positioning in the middle of the SJHL standings. 5th through 9th are only separated by four points. Estevan will be in Melfort Wednesday before two big games at the Cage in Nipawin Friday and Saturday.

9. Weyburn Red Wings 10-9-0-4 (Last Week 7th):

By the time the Weyburn Red Wings return to the ice on Wednesday, it will have been 11 days since their last game. During that time the Wings have dropped in the SJHL standings, but have played the least amount of games in the entire league. They will make up some of those games this weekend when they visit Nipawin Wednesday and then head to Flin Flon for a pair Friday and Saturday.

10. La Ronge Ice Wolves 8-17-2-1 (Last Week 10th):

It was a busy week both on and off the ice for the La Ronge Ice Wolves this past week. They salvaged two points during their 3 game in 3 night week where they fell twice to Humboldt but then beat Yorkton. La Ronge was also busy off the ice as they dealt Captain Liam McInnis to the Nipawin Hawks. La Ronge is only five points back of the 8th and final playoff spot. The Wolves are at home this week with contests against Flin Flon Wednesday and Kindersley Saturday.

11. Yorkton Terriers 8-16-1-1 (Last Week 12th):

Following their five game winning streak, the Yorkton Terriers have now lost five straight. It was a tough weekend on the road for Yorkton as they dropped an 8-4 decision to Flin Flon Friday and 6-4 in La Ronge Saturday. This week won’t get any easier for the Terriers as they visit the Humboldt Broncos Tuesday night and host Melfort on Saturday.

12. Notre Dame Hounds 7-20-1-0 (Last Week 11th):

Four games in five nights is a daunting task for any team. However, during a busy stretch, you’re hoping to still find a way to pick up some points. Sadly for the Hounds and their fans, they went 0-4 during that stretch. Now the Hounds have 10 days off before they hit the road again to begin another four game in five night stretch on Tuesday, December 12th when they visit the Battlefords North Stars.
