Busy Weekend for the U18s
It was a busy weekend for the U18s. Eleven different hockey associations were entertained–with many have been repeat visitors!
Waldheim, LaRonge, Macklin, Maple Creek, Maidstone, Humboldt, Beaumont, Wainwright, Shaunavon, Hague and Kneehill came out for the weekend. Kindersley started off the weekend against Wainwright with a 5-2 win, with 2 goals from Josh Yaremovich, 2 goals from Logan Bond and 1 goal from Jayden Holland. Saturday morning they fell short against Humboldt 3-1 with the lonely goal from Carson Smith.
Saturday night was a nail biter against Waldheim with Josh Yaremovich bringing it to a tie with 14.8 seconds left in the game which led it to OT. Jonathan Allen (JJHC) finished the game off just 37 seconds into OT. Unfortunately with being short 4 goals they were not able to make finals.
Elaine Epp, KMH U18 Coordinator, gave a special shout out to all those who helped. “All in all it was a great weekend, can’t thank the tournament committee enough without you I would’ve lost my mind. But it’s not our first rodeo but unfortunately for some it’s our last. I would like to send special thanks to our KMH Sponsors, a huge thank you to Smitty’s Schwabbin for the $2500 50/50 guarantee, PTW for supplying water and Granola bars, and Fouillards our team sponsor. Also to the refs without you the games can’t be played, these group of guys I’ve worked with planning tournaments for I don’t know how many years, they work so amazing together and cover each other’s shift so amazingly. A huge thank you to the parents, thank you for working non stop to pull this big weekend off. The 50/50 was won by someone in Maple Creek.”
