Kim Gartner New Sask. Party Nominee

The expanded constituency of Kindersley-Biggar has a new representative in the next provincial election.

Kim Gartner is the new Sask Party nominee for this area as he beat out Randy Weekes on Thursday night at a nominee meeting at the Kindersley Inn.  It was a packed house as many people came in and voted and left, but also, many people stayed for the nominees speeches.  Voting was only allowed by party members and in order to cast your ballot, you had to register by December 7th

Randy has spent 24 years in politics and is currently the speaker of the house.  Kim is a town administrator from Macklin and is a long-serving current school trustee and a former vice-chair for Living Sky School Division.

“I am humbled by your support here tonight,” Gartner said. “I’m honoured for the opportunity to join the Saskatchewan Party team, and I will be working hard to represent you in our Legislature after the next election.”

Gartner has had a 35 year career in municipal administration, supporting local, regional, and provincial initiatives. He has served as CAO for the Town of Macklin for the past 30 years. Gartner is a Past President of the Urban Administrators Association of Saskatchewan and has also served as School Trustee for the Living Sky School Division.

In addition to his professional life, Gartner has been an active volunteer with numerous community organizations and has served as Event Coordinator for the World Bunnock Champions

Gartner was born and raised on a family farm a short distance east of Macklin. He and his wife Colleen have four children and four granddaughters.

With the election boundaries being redrawn, both candidates were vying for essentially a brand new riding.  What does the future hold?  Lets find out come election time.
