Bail Denied for Suspect Arrested in Rosetown Raid. Brandon Hipfner to Appear in Kindersley Court Nov. 14
In Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, Andrew Ek, a 31-year-old who was apprehended during an August raid in Rosetown, had his bail request denied. An order is in place prohibiting the publication of the details of Ek’s show cause hearing.
Meanwhile, Brandon Hipfner, one of Ek’s co-accused, was granted bail on the same day. Jaiden Rosen, the third individual facing charges, had already been released in September.
The trio, consisting of Ek, Hipfner, and Rosen, was taken into custody following a morning raid by the RCMP tactical unit SERT (Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team) at a residence on Herkimer Street in Rosetown on August 23. They are all facing charges of attempted murder as well as several firearms-related offenses. Ek faced additional charges related to the possession of firearms (a firearm and a taser) in violation of a court order, while Hipfner was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Ek is scheduled to return to the Saskatoon court on November 9 for an election. Hipfner is set to appear in Kindersley court on November 14 to enter an election.
The operation to execute the search warrant on the Rosetown residence was carried out through the collaboration of various law enforcement teams, including the Rosetown RCMP, the North Battleford and Moose Jaw RCMP Crime Reduction Teams, the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team, and the Combined Traffic Services Section (CTSS). Additionally, the Saskatoon RCMP General Investigation Section and the Saskatchewan RCMP Trafficking Response Team in Saskatoon provided assistance.
