Universal Testing Available for Saskatchewan Starting Today

By Mallorie Rast

Starting today, anyone in the province can request a test for COVID-19–whether or not you are currently experiencing symptoms.

The testing is not available for walk-ins, but by referral only. Interested parties should apply for a referral through either the HealthLine 811, or through a family physician or a nurse practitioner.

Priority will be given to those who are currently experiencing COVID-19, or similar, symptoms, and then to those who have come in close contact with someone who has or is suspected of COVID-19. Those who live in high-risk communities are also high priority, as well as those who work in high-traffic areas or with individuals who are at high-risk of contracting COVID-19.

The province advises the public that testing should only be necessary if you fall into one of the above categories, or if you have returned to work outside the home, are homeless or living in a vulnerable situation, or if you are in an immunocompromised position.
