Obituaries: Gary Seime

December 3, 1947 ~ April 23, 2020 (age 72)

Karl Gary Seime, fondly known as Butch or Grampa Gary, left us to start his new journey in the early hours of April 23rd, 2020. Dad’s memories will continue to be cherished by his daughters Tamma and Tracey (Dell) and his grandchildren Jorgia, Jayna and Aricin, his mother Evelyn Seime, his siblings Gloria (Dale) Neumeier and Howard (Val) Seime, his wife Sandy, as well as his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We take comfort knowing that Dad will be reunited with his father, Karl Berger Seime and his sister Carol Edwards.

Dad was born December 3rd, 1947 in Dodsland, SK. Upon his graduation from High School he moved to the big city and completed his degree in Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan. That is where he met his wife Sandy as well as a few life long friends. Dad enjoyed his career with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, retiring in Wakaw where he remained until his passing. Dad wasn’t one to just sit at home, so in his retirement he started cutting grass and tilling gardens in Wakaw.

Dad loved us all dearly but having grandchildren was the icing on the cake. He didn’t miss many Cheerleading Competitions, Dance Recitals and Hockey Games. We, as his daughters, appreciated the many times that Dad would drop everything to run into the city to help us out with the grandkids.

Dad enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hanging out at the lake, restoring his Ford 40 and going to car shows. He took pride in being a long time member of the Wakaw Lions Club and volunteered at many community events. Dad taught us so many lessons over the years, most importantly to enjoy life, be patient and be kind. He was a man of few words with the biggest heart. We miss him dearly and will always treasure the memories that we made with Dad.

The current COVID-19 crisis has thrown a wrench in our ability to celebrate Dad’s life with his many friends and family members. We will be having a gathering in Wakaw to honor Dad, and his life, when we can shake hands and hug again.

If you wish to honor Dad’s memory, a donation could be made to the Wakaw Lions Club or St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation for Palliative Care.
