Kindersley RCMP Continue to Serve Community through COVID Challenges
By Mallorie Rast
As COVID-19 continues to impact businesses and services, members of the Kindersley RCMP detachment find themselves impacted on all levels. Despite the challenges faced in both sectors, the detachment continues to serve the Kindersley area with dedication.
Like many other service providers, the RCMP take the safety of their staff and people they are serving as paramount. This includes ensuring that proper personal safety gear is worn at all times by the detachment members as due to the nature of their service, social distancing is not always possible. Transportation in police cruisers has been affected and includes health screening of not only officers but also of the people they are transporting.
On the business side of their work, the detachment is now able to again serve the community in an office setting. In order to keep in line with physical distancing, the office is requesting only one member of the public in at a time and asks waiting persons to wait in their vehicles in order to cut down on close contact. With safety in mind, they are still encouraging those who can avoid physical visits to continue to do so. The office is accepting statements over the phone and encourages the public to call the office to ascertain if a physical visit is necessary.
