Suicide Prevention Day Observed in Kindersley
In addition to World Suicide Prevention Day observed today, last year Mayor Rod Perkins has named this day a special observance for the town of Kindersley.
Globally, suicide is responsible for one death every 40 seconds. For every death by suicide, there are 25 people who either have attempted suicide or struggle with suicidal thoughts. Mayor Perkins urges all Kindersley and area residents to take some time today to talk about suicide prevention with someone in order to raise awareness, and also to reach out to someone who may be struggling.
“The Influence of a caring, compassionate person at a difficult time can have a profound impact on someone in a crisis;” the Town of Kindersley’s 2019 proclamation read. “It only takes a moment to change a life, but together, these moments can make a world of difference.”
