Canada Cautions Against All Travel to Lebanon Amid Israel-Hamas conflict

Canada has issued a new travel advisory for Lebanon, now strongly advising against all travel to the country due to a deteriorating security situation. There are concerns that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas may escalate in the region. Ottawa has upgraded its travel advisory from “avoid non-essential travel” to “avoid all travel.” This advice aligns with similar recommendations from countries like the United States and France, urging their citizens to refrain from traveling to Lebanon at this time.

The Canadian government has also suggested that Canadians currently in Lebanon should consider leaving while commercial means of transportation are still available. The situation is tense, with Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group in southern Lebanon, engaging in clashes with Israel’s military at the border. This has raised concerns of a broader conflict in the region, particularly as Israel prepares for an expected ground offensive against Hamas, a militant group based in Gaza.
