SK RCMP Officers Experience Frightening Incident In November
Just before midnight on Friday, November 12th, 2021, Broadview Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan police officers were speaking with a pedestrian who requested assistance on a grid road north of Broadview, SK.
While the officers were outside of their police vehicle with the pedestrian, another vehicle collided with the back of the unoccupied police vehicle, forcing it off the side of the road and into the ditch.
“We were standing about thirty feet in front of the police vehicle at the time. We heard the vehicle approaching, but we didn’t see it until it was too late. The vehicle did not have its headlights on,” shared one of the officers who was at the scene. “Everything happened so fast. I was hoping everyone was safe. The police vehicle was not driveable after and needed to be towed away.”
The vehicle was occupied by two males under 20 and it was determined they were not wearing seatbelts. Both were transported to hospital for treatment of injuries. The pedestrian and officers were able to avoid injuries during the incident.
The males face charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt or use headlights, driving an unregistered vehicle, among others.
