1,841 Calls for Service in Three Days for Saskatchewan RCMP
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Division Operational Communication Centre (DOCC) do an incredible job in keeping us safe. From December 31-January 2, they received a total of 1,841 calls for service .
The breakdown is as follows:
- December 31, 2021 – Saskatchewan RCMP DOCC received 534 calls for service
- January 1, 2022 – Saskatchewan RCMP DOCC received 843 calls for service
- January 2, 2022 – Saskatchewan RCMP DOCC received 464 calls for service
- December 1-31, 2021– Saskatchewan RCMP DOCC received 27,116 calls for service
Please note these numbers do not include calls for service members of the public may have made directly to detachments across Saskatchewan. There may also be duplication of calls for a single incident; for example, multiple people calling DOCC about one incident.
“New Year’s eve and morning have been associated with increased calls for service in past years and this weekend was no exception,” shares S/Sgt. Devin Pugh, officer in charge of Saskatchewan RCMP DOCC. “The busiest time period was between 11:00 p.m. December 31 and 11:00 a.m. January 1 when the majority of calls were received. DOCC call takers speak with people sometimes experiencing their worst days. Its important we anticipate increased calls around major dates and events and adjust DOCC resources accordingly so we continue to provide an exceptional level of service to the public.”
In addition to the calls for service DOCC call takers manage every shift, they complete police officer wellbeing checks and provide other assistance to on-duty police officers.
