Kindersley Fire Dispatched to Elevator Rescue
On April 22, 2022, at 1:17 p.m., Kindersley Fire was dispatched to an elevator rescue.
By 1:26 p.m. members arrived on the scene to multiple people trapped in an elevator.
“We were dispatched to multiple people trapped in an elevator at a local hotel. Upon arrival, we were able to open the doors and see that it was caught between floors. We were able to rescue two children and a teenager from the bottom floor through an opening, but the adults were unable to fit. With the two adults, we attempted a rescue from the top of the elevator in the shaft via the hatch. However, the female was pregnant, and I realized this rescue from the top of the elevator may be too dangerous for her. Because of this, we halted and had an elevator tech come out from Saskatoon to assist in the rescue. With the tech’s assistance, we were able to get the elevator back to the main floor, and by 4:27 p.m. we were able to get both adults out safely,” shared Fire Chief Jeff Soveran.
By 4:53 p.m. Kindersley Fire had cleared the scene.
