Outlook Pool Closed for 2024 Season
The Town of Outlook recently shared that unfortunately, they will not be able to open the Van Raay and Community Pool for the 2024 season.
On Saturday, January 20, the pool experienced a burst pipe in the heated mechanical room. Water outside the heated building was noticed by a community member and reported immediately to staff, but not before a large amount of water entered the crawl spaces under and around the pool as well as filling the outdoor pool itself. Town personnel were able to quickly shut off the valve to stop water from escaping and cleanup of the water began immediately.
The Town of Outlook made an insurance claim, and the damaged equipment and furnishings, as well as the costs of cleanup and repair, are fully covered.
They have now had time to assess the full extent of the damage after monitoring the area. It is with this monitoring and assessment and the excellent work of their team and technical experts that they came to the decision to notify the public that the pool will remain closed for the 2024 season. For now, they continue to monitor and plan for the repairs and construction, including excavation work that will need to take place prior to the pool opening for the 2025 season.
The Town of Outlook will continue to keep the public informed of any further programming or disruption of services as they develop.
