Great Weekend At Flatlanders!
By Kevin Martin
Saturday, July 9 was a LOUD day! Flatlanders Speedway just west of Kindersley
was the source of the loudness.
Trucks, street stocks and hobby stocks took their turns driving the oval track.
They ran 10 laps with 2 heats per class then a brief intermission followed by
feature races. Each vehicle racing comes equipped with a sensor to help the
officials keep track of number of laps, etc.
Each driver receives points and are awarded prizes at the end of the season. On
average approximately 250 spectators attend these races and cheer on their
favorite driver.
Racing will be going on all summer and many are especially excited for the Goose
Festival weekend which usually garners a huge crowd and additional entries.
