RCMP Stop Speeding Driver, Children Not in Car Seats or Wearing Seatbelts

Please remember to protect your most precious cargo!

On July 14, Morse RCMP stopped a vehicle going 154 km/hr in a 110 zone near Herbert. The officer noted there were three children, ages 5 and under, present in the vehicle–not in car seats and not wearing seatbelts. The car seats were in the storage area at the back of the vehicle at the time of the stop.

The driver was issued a $731 speeding ticket and three $175 tickets for having unrestrained passengers under 7 years old in the vehicle.

The officer assisted with the correct installation of the car seats and ensured the children were properly strapped in before allowing the driver to continue on their journey.
