Klippers vs Melville Millonaires
The WCEC was alive with the sounds of the Whiskey Boyz coming from the curling rink on Saturday night. Oh, and the Kindersley Jr. Klippers were taking on the Melville Millionaires with the home town Klippers still in search of their first win of this season.
The Klippers players had a fun-filled and eventful day as they participated in our annual Goose Festival parade, walked the entire route and gave out candies as they got up close and personal with many fans who lined the route. It was a HUGE meet and greet and much fun was had by all. Even head coach Ken Plaquin and assistant coaches Briar McNaney and Tyler Traptow joined in the festivities.
The game itself was a quick skating affair and unfortunately Melville got on the score sheet first. Some hard hitting and perseverance on the Klippers part held the crowd spellbound and scored with 15.1 seconds left to tied the game at 3! The 5 minutes of overtime also failed to produce a winner, so back to a shoot-out for the 2nd straight game. It also produced the same result as we lost 2 to 0. The good part is that we at least get a point for the tie.
Tylin Hilbig was chosen as 2nd star again for his play and scoring 2 goals. The Klippers outshot the Millionaires for a count of 35 to 30.
