KidSport Cup Standings as of Jan 16th
The 2023 portion of the SJHL schedule is well underway and the race for the KidSport Cup is heating up. The Battlefords North Stars continue to sit at the top of the KidSport Cup standings, but some teams are closing in on the 1st place Stars.
In total, 818 goals have been scored by SJHL teams so far this season for KidSport, which means $16,360 has been raised going into this week.
In its 9th season, the SJHL, Saskenergy, and KidSport’s Goals for KidSport program aimed at helping youth participate in sport by reducing the financial pressure often associated with accessing sport activities.
SaskEnergy Network Members (independent plumbing and heating professionals) donate $20 to local KidSport chapters for every home goal scored by an SJHL team (up to 1,000) during the regular season.
During each Goals for KidSport season, KidSport volunteers host 11 SJHL Game Nights, where all funds raised stay right in the community.
To further recognize the many volunteers and achievements of community sport initiatives, the following awards are given:
- The KidSport Cup goes to the Saskatchewan SJHL team who scores the most home goals in the season
- A Volunteer Champion Award is presented in each SJHL community to an individual or group who shows the most dedication and support for their team
- 1000th Goal medal goes to the player who scores the symbolic 1000th Goal for KidSport
