Junior Klippers vs Melville

It was a night of firsts. 1st, a goal judge got the chance to win $1,150.00 by shooting a puck through a wood plank into the goal net. AND HE DID!!! Next, the Jr. Klippers won the hockey game; their 2nd game in a row, by a score of 4 – 2. And 3rd, Matt Mazzocchi scored 3 goals (a hat trick) in hockey terms. Wow!

The Melville Millionaires came to town on a down beat as they played in Battleford the night before and took it on the chin, a 9 – 2 loss. The Klippers on the other hand also played the night before and they downed the Notre Dame Hounds by a score of 6 -2. So how was this game going to develop? Judging from their play, the Klippers were still on a high of winning on Friday and maybe Melville was a little tired? Hard to say as all these players are in really good shape.

Melville did get into some penalty trouble as they took 6 penalties to the Klippers 2. Kindersley goalie Logan Falk got the nod again and played a steady game keeping his team in the hunt for the win. Attendance was low again with 390 spectators coming out in the cold to watch their team. Also on the plus side, we are out of the basement and tied for 10th place. Coach Trapper has his team on a roll. Lets cheer them on!!

Next home games at the WCEC are March 4th and 5th as the Weyburn Red Wings come to town for a couple of weekend games. The Saturday game starts at 7:30 and the Sunday game at 4:00. After that, the last home game will be on Friday, March 10th versus the Battleford Northstars.
