Kim Hobbs New Sun West Superintendent
Kim Hobbs, the current Principal of Eston Composite School, will become a Sun West Superintendent of Learning starting in the 2023-24 school year.
“We are very happy to have Kim join our senior administrative team,” said Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore, “Kim has held positions in every element of school division administration and leadership including teacher, consultant, principal and superintendent. Her vast experience combined with the commitment to life-long learning and putting students first is going to make a difference in Sun West.”
Ms. Hobbs holds a Bachelor of Education with distinction and a Master of Education in Educational Communications and Technology from the University of Saskatchewan and throughout her career she has earned professional certification in such areas as crisis and trauma responses, suicide prevention, mental health and cognitive coaching.
Ms. Hobbs started her teaching career in Elementary classes in Provost and Bodo, Alberta in 1991 before becoming an Elementary teacher at D’Arcy School in the Sun West legacy School Division Rosetown in 1992. She continued teaching elementary students at Brock School and Walter Aseltine School in Rosetown between 1995 and 1996 before becoming the Principal at Brock in 1997. She became a Technology Consultant with the legacy Rosetown in 2002 and in 2006 she became a Learning Consultant for the newly formed Sun West School Division. She continued in that role until she became Principal of Kindersley Composite School in 2012. Ms. Hobbs was a Sun West Assistant Superintendent on 2015-16 and Superintendent in 2016-17. In 2017, she became Principal of Eston Composite School.
“It is a privilege to assume the role of Superintendent of Learning for Sun West School Division,” explained Ms. Hobbs, “I have learned so much from my Sun West experiences and look forward to the ongoing sharing and learning together, as we strive for Success for All.”
