New Vice-Principal at Westberry Elementary School
Starting in the fall of the 2023-24 school year, current Westberry Elementary School in Kindersley teacher Celene Longmire will be the new Vice-Principal.
“Celene has always been an early adopter and advocate for innovative programming and new ideas including PeBL and MSS,” stated Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore, “so we are looking forward to her continuing to be someone who facilitates positive change in her new role as Vice-Principal.”
Mrs. Longmire received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Saskatchewan in 2003 and followed that up in 2005 with a Bachelor of Education Honours with Distinction, majoring in Elementary Education. She started her teaching career in 2008 at Westcliffe Composite School in Marengo and in 2010 became an Employment Instructor with Great Plains College in Kindersley. That same year she became a Grade 9 English Language Arts and Media Studies 20 teacher at Kindersley Composite School. In 2012, she started teaching at Elizabeth Middle School in Kindersley as a Grade 3 and Grade 5 teacher. Since 2015 she has been a teacher at Westberry Elementary School where she has been teaching in all subject areas.
Mrs. Longmire is also a strong community supporter through her children who are actively involved in many extracurricular activities. She has served two terms as Secretary for the Kindersley Minor Sports Board and has also been Secretary for the Kindersley Playschool Board. She co-chaired as Treasurer for the Early Childhood Educators’ Council (ECEC) Provincial Conference in Kindersley in 2005 and has been an active member of the ECEC. She is currently the School Staff Liaison for Westberry with the Sun West Teachers Association and the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation.
