Regina Will Host Canadian Little League Championships
On August 1, Regina is set to host the Canadian Little League Championships which will feature teams from all over Canada battling for a spot in the Little League World Series. The competition will showcase young athletes under the age of 12.
The ultimate prize for the winning team is a trip to Williamsport, Penn., to compete in the world championship. The winning team will only have 48 hours before departing from Regina to Pennsylvania.
This tournament marks a special occasion for Saskatchewan, as the last time a team from this region participated was back in 2002. In a heartwarming gesture, members of the 2002 team will be present during the opening ceremonies and will be supporting and cheering on the new team throughout the week.
Organizer Dean McQueen is excited about the event, not only for the on-field action but also as an opportunity for the entire baseball community across Canada to experience Regina’s offerings. The park boasts new infrastructure, and McQueen sees it as a chance to create a lasting legacy for future players. The aim is to build a top-notch diamond that will serve the needs of upcoming players for years to come.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Aug. 1 and will run until Aug. 10 at the North Regina Little League.
