Kindersley Fire Continues Summer Training and Tries New Electric Tools for Vehicle Extrication
Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.
With July all wrapped up, the KFD has one more month of summer training hours before we are back to every week training in September. In the meantime, we have been busy working away at getting the new house ready for use out at our training grounds. A few more workdays and we should have the outside of the house ready to keep the weather away! We also will have an opportunity in mid August for our members to try out some new electric tools for vehicle extrication. These will be the brand new extrication tools made available to us from the SGI T.R.E.X. program, which a few of our members attended back in early April.
With the usual dry weather this time of year, it’s important to keep campfire safety in mind. Stray sparks and embers can easily start an unintended fire in an unintended place! You should always keep a water source close at hand when enjoying a backyard fire and remember to fully extinguish your fire by adding water and stirring until you can no longer see smoke or steam. Also keep in mind that the Kindersley bylaws state that you must keep your fire at least 9.8 feet away from property lines and buildings, and that the fire pit needs to be separated from any vegetation by at least 15.7 inches using any non-combustible material.
