KFD Members Take Part in Heavy Extrication Course
Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.
This past weekend some of our members traveled to Rosetown to take part in a Heavy Extrication course hosted by the Rosetown Fire Department and put on by Trans-Care from Langham. The five members from Kindersley joined up with members from Rosetown and Elrose to learn the latest methods and tactics involving heavy vehicle extrication. These vehicles would include buses, semis and farm equipment. All told there were 19 students in training for three days! Thank you to Rosetown Fire for inviting and hosting our members.
With Goose Fest coming up soon, Kindersley Fire would like to invite you to our hall for a Kick Off to Goose Fest Open House! Our members will be hard at work to get the hall all shinnied up and ready for visitors. We will have plenty of hot dogs, chips and pop ready for you which have been generously donated by Buy Low Foods! Please join us on September 21st from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. for food, tours, live music, and a silver collection.
Cold weather is on the horizon and you can help prepare for that by following a few simple steps. Fully check and service your furnace or heating device before cranking up the heat to make sure no leaks or defects have developed in the gas or ventilation systems. You should also make sure you test and change batteries if necessary in your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors to give yourself an early warning of any possible problems. You should also take the time before a snowfall to clean up your yard and make sure there are no flammable materials like fuel or wood that needs to be put away or stored properly before it becomes buried in the future snow.
Thanks for reading!
