260 School Zone Speeders Reported by Police Throughout Province
Throughout the Province, last month, 260* drivers in school zones found out that speeding through a school zone leads to an expensive ticket.
As kids headed back to school in September, SGI’s Traffic Safety Spotlight reminded drivers to watch their speed, follow the rules and remain focused on the road in order to keep kids safe.
In addition to September’s school zone speeders, police also reported 35 drivers received tickets for failing to yield to pedestrians at an intersection.
Other results from September:
- 723 tickets for distracted driving, including 605 for drivers using cell phones;
- 4,827 tickets for other speeding or aggressive driving offences;
- 426 tickets for seatbelt and car seat offences; and
- 384 impaired driving offences, including 172 Criminal Code charges and 212 administrative suspensions.
