Klippers VS Humboldt

Well, the new year is here and the Jr. Klippers are playing great hockey but not getting the wins they need. Saturday night was a prime example. After being down 4 to 1 in the 1st period to the visiting Humboldt Broncos, the Klips played lights out and tied the game at 4 with just under 5 minutes to play. Unfortunately, Humboldt wasn’t going to give up so easily and scored to take the lead 1 minute and 6 seconds later!

Bronco player Matthew Van Blaricom was a stand out and scored 3 goals, including an empty net goal with 2:18 left on the clock when the Klipper goalie, Cody “Noodles” Jaman was pulled for the extra attacker. Sometimes this move works and sometimes it doesn’t. Saturday it didn’t. The Klippers did play very hard as Humboldt also has a good and fast team. We proved we can skate with them and, more importantly, score on them.

Final score was 6 to 4 and 692 fans were disappointed with the result but encouraged by the level of play. Assistant coach Tyler Traptow assumed the head coach duties as Clayton Jardine was at home due to his wife just giving birth to their 2nd child.

Humboldt took 8 penalties to only 4 against the Klippers. Tylin Hilbig was a shining star as he potted 2 more goals, giving him 19 for the season. Cash Arnsten continues to play a hard nose game and Keenan Ingram had 1 goal and 2 assists. Local boy Cobe Perlinger scored and rounded out the scoring.

Next home game is Friday, January 12 when the Notre Dame Hounds make another appearance in the “Hangar” at the West Central Event Centre. Puck drop is at 7:30.
