Yorkton Terriers Financial Situation is Dire
On January 27, 2024, the Yorkton Terriers shared the news the team is facing a very difficult financial situation and are now reaching out to the public for their support.
“The club’s financial situation is dire”, explained team President, Corvyn Neufeld.
The Yorkton Terriers Junior A Hockey Club finds itself in a very difficult financial situation. “Running a Junior A hockey club costs a lot of money – in excess of $700,000 each season. Our club has struggled for many years financially and the 2023/24 season has been no different. There are many reasons why we are where we are, but as a board of directors we came to the conclusion that we need the community’s help in a big way, now. Without that, the club’s future is in jeopardy.”
In the next few days, the Terriers will announce the first step in their plan to rebuild the club’s finances. The key to success will be the support of our fans and community.
Neufeld closed by saying that Head Coach/General Manager, Emery Olauson, has built an exciting team that is pushing hard for a playoff spot. “There will be some very exciting hockey over the next couple of months, as long as we can keep the doors open.”
