“The Current Roster of Players Can Get the Job Done”

On January 2nd the sun was shining brightly outside and the Kindersley Jr. Klippers were shining brightly inside as the participated in the first full practice of 2023. Although their record isn’t as good as they would like, assistant coach Tyler Traptow was philosophical. He said the injuries to key personnel has taken its toll on everyone and now is the time for some players to step up their game.

He is confident in the current squad that the season can still be salvaged but it’s going to take some hard work and discipline. The current roster of players can get the job done if they focus game by game. Tyler also said that he has grown so much as a coach since he started with the Klippers. Unfortunately, the other assistant coach, Briar McNaney, was let go before Christmas so a little more pressure falls on Trapper and head coach, Ken Plaquin.

Even the business side of sports isn’t always so glamorous but it is what it is. The players need to respond quickly to the coaching change and believe in and support each other in order to reach the next level. This reporter believes the talent is there. They just have to put it all together consistently.

The next home game is Saturday, January 7th with the puck drop at 7:30 with the Battleford Northstars coming to the West Central Events Centre.
