KFD Visits Dawn View and the Evergreens!
Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Department.
Last week our team held a live fire and motor vehicle collision training exercise out at our training grounds. This exercise included our ladder truck, both rescue engines, and our water tenders. Our members were able to practice relay pumping operations, apparatus staging, vehicle stabilization, and exposure control just to name a few. These kinds of live fire exercises are also used as an opportunity to give some of our newer officers experience in being in command of a scene, which is a lot more complicated than it seems!
Recently our PubEd team spent a few hours in the Dawn View and Evergreens residential complexes sharing some fire safety messages with their residents. Residents of these facilities were able to talk and ask questions about how they could prepare themselves in the event of an emergency and how we might respond to one in the building. Some residents of these facilities may be mobility impaired and may require extra assistance in the event of an emergency.
With spring weather showing up there has been more kids and families outside enjoying the weather I’ve been noticing more and more people getting out and active! Please remember to slow down while driving and pay more attention for cyclists and pedestrians, especially around school zones. And if you’re one of the ones out enjoying the weather on your bikes with your family, take the time to review proper cycling rules and safety. This includes proper fitting helmets, and using hand signals.
