Klippers Fall to Flin Flon
Well, the Flin Flon Bombers were just too much for the Klippers to handle. And give the Klippers full credit for not just showing up, but putting in some amazing efforts to at least win 1 game of this series. Final score was 2 to 1 for the visiting Flin Flon team.
The Bombers are an extremely balanced, quick and strong team and of course, the reason they finished # 1 in the SJHL this season. They kept up the attack and were relentless in their pursuit of a victory. Klipper goaltender John MacPherson got the start and played great. He kept the boys in the game, but Flin Flon was just that good. They were ahead 2 to 0 in the 3rd until an unlikely short-handed goal was scored by Cam Perlinger with 2:47 left in the game!
We pushed and we tried but time just ran out and couldn’t get the equalizer. This team has nothing to be ashamed of in their play. They showed up every night and gave everything they had. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always go your way. So, we say goodbye to 8 of our 20 yr olds who have aged out and may continue to play elsewhere. As for the rest, well, they have an off season to reflect on the year they had and the contribution they made.
I see big things in store for this hockey team in the future. They have some young and talented players signed for next season already. Coach Clayton Jardine is very good at getting the right mix of players who play well and compliment each other. Assistant coach Tyler Traptow will have some off season surgery and should be back to normal before training camp in the fall.
Enjoy the summer fellas! And thank you for your positive contributions, not just to the Klippers but to our entire community. It was a pleasure getting to know some of you and to report on the Klippers on behalf of the Kindersley Social. See you later!
