The expansion of the Trans Mountain oil pipeline, overseen by Trans Mountain Corp., is set to begin commercial operations on May 1. This development aims to enhance the pipeline’s current capacity by 590,000 barrels each day, achieving a new total capacity of 890,000 barrels daily. The announcement was made in a recent update by the corporation responsible for the project.
Trans Mountain Corp. has reported overcoming the construction obstacles encountered in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, which had previously hampered the project’s progress.
Before oil transportation can commence, numerous tasks remain, including completing the final construction phases and securing all necessary regulatory approvals.
Owned by the federal government, the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion has been underway for over four years, with expenditures surpassing $34 billion.
Stretching from Alberta to the British Columbia West Coast, this enlarged pipeline is poised to substantially enhance the export capabilities of Canadian oil enterprises.
