Obituaries: Evelyn Faye Climenhaga

1941 ~ 2024 (age 82)

Evelyn Faye Climenhaga passed away peacefully at Heritage Manor on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Evelyn was born in the Kindersley Union Hospital on April 27, 1941, to Naaman and Sallie Climenhaga and the youngest of 7 children. Evelyn grew up on the farm and lived there with her family until 1951 when they relocated to Kindersley. She attended Niagara Christian College in Ontario (1956-57) and made the decision to return home when her Mom became ill. Evelyn received her grade 12 diploma from the Kindersley McKenzie School and began working soon after at the Kindersley Medical Clinic as a receptionist until a position at the Kindersley Credit Union became available and with that began her career of 24 years as an accountant and financial manager. She made many lifetime friendships through her time at the Credit Union, which she treasured. Her last 12 years of employment were at the Kindersley Inn co-managing and accounting until her retirement in 1996. In retirement, Evelyn moved into Pincemin Place and there served on the condo board as treasurer and main contact until she was diagnosed with cancer just 6 weeks ago. She was also instrumental in the operation of the Senior’s Centre volunteering in many capacities until its closure several years ago. Evelyn was a faithful member of the Clearview Community Church (Be In Christ) offering up her many gifts in service to God and her church community. She was involved in the music ministry as pianist and organist, serving on the church board and various committees as well as church treasurer. Evelyn was fortunate to have travelled to a number of countries in Europe and Asia and several states in the United States. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, gardening, playing games, and the piano. Throughout the years she has made numerous quilts for donation to the Mennonite Central Committee and supported many charities at home and abroad. Evelyn is predeceased by her 6 siblings Anna, Clarence, Eunice, Merle, Marjorie, and Ferne. She is survived by her sister-in-law Sheila Climenhaga and leaves to remember several nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own and many dear friends. Thank you to everyone who has shared their lives with Evelyn.
