Meet Rick Miller, President of the Kindersley & District Chamber of Commerce
Rick Miller, President of the Kindersley & District Chamber of Commerce, has lived his entire life here in Kindersley.
“My parents Nick (late) and Lil Miller had their hands full with myself and 3 siblings! I have 4 children; Chad, Calen, Landon and Brooklyn along with 4 grandchildren; Gibson, Chloe, Connor and Carter.
After graduating from Kindersley Composite High School, I started in the glass industry gaining my journeyman status which has lasted 40 years! As of today, I have owned Speedy Glass in Kindersley since 2012 and have loved every minute of it. During my tenure with Speedy Glass I was asked to be a trainer for customer service and trained service centers in Western Canada for 5 years.
My passion today is umpiring baseball & “Sorry Fellas” I plan on doing it for a while longer. I also love to play golf and many happy hours are spent on the course.
As my children were involved in minor sports, I coached hockey for 8 years and my big passion being baseball for 9 years. I was also president of Kindersley minor ball for 2 years.
Being involved with the Chamber of Commerce, first as a board member and now President, has been an integral part I coached hockey for 8 years and my big passion being baseball for 9 years. I was also president of Kindersley minor ball for 2 years.
Being involved with the Chamber of Commerce, first as a board member and now President, has been an integral part of my business life. I have seen in my lifetime the demise of too many small towns in our area. Small businesses are under tremendous pressure today & my big push is to help promote our local businesses as well as to remind people that the demise of any town will always start with store closures & industry (farming and oil) pressure.
So, in saying that, helping promote “shopping local wherever possible” has been a passion for the past 3 years. I do not want to see our town go the way of the dodo bird. I believe in our town and will continue to fight the good fight to help keep us prosperous and successful! “Shop local for the sake of your town”.
Currently I am a board member for the Glass Dealers of Saskatchewan and President of the Kindersley & District Chamber of Commerce.
