The Kindersley Legion Branch Remembers Ernie Krepps

The Kindersley Legion Branch 57 recently shared the loss of one their members, veteran, and outstanding legion member, Erine Krepps.

Described as the face of Branch 57, Ernie’s membership took him through all the positions of the Branch, in addition to serving as Deputy Zone Commander. He worked tirelessly for the Legion, showing up nearly every day to make sure things were in order and moving along nicely.

In March 2021, Ernie and his wife Ellen received lifetime awards. In addition, that evening, a special presentation award went to Ernie for his service. He received the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers as it recognized exceptional time and effort in volunteering in the community, Canada and beyond, to which he received a standing ovation from the appreciative crowd.

Ernie enjoyed connecting with the community. In the attached picture, you can see him passing out flags to the kids at the last Goose Festival Parade—this made his day. The following day, Branch 57 held their rededication of the Field of Honour at Kindersley Cemetery, and of course, Ernie was the first person there.

“My friend, I will miss you dearly. The town of Kindersley will miss you dearly and your buddies. Your family misses you, but I know Branch 57 will miss you the most. This Remembrance Day will truly be a different day without you there. Take care Ernie!” shared the Kindersley Legion Branch 57.
