Obituaries: Noreen Carol (Punter) Nagel

September 30, 1946 ~ January 15, 2021 (age 74)

Noreen Carol (Punter) was born to Les and Effie Punter on Sept 30, 1946 in Eatonia, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of two children, Dennis being her older brother. They were raised in the Mantario area and attended school in both Mantario and Eatonia. Following graduation in 1965, Noreen married Erwin Chris Nagel.

Chris and Noreen lived and farmed south of Eatonia. In 1975, their daughter Laurie Dawn was born. Noreen stayed home to raise their daughter and was a big part of the farm running for parts, moving equipment and making sure no one went hungry. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker and avid gardener, she definitely had a green thumb. Noreen’s faith played a large role in her life, and she was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eatonia for all of her married life. She taught Sunday School, was an active member of ELW and sang in the church choir. Chris and Noreen both loved to camp, fish and travel. In retirement, they were finally able to take a tour to Nashville, a trip they had both wanted to take for years.

In 2009, Chris passed away and Noreen found herself wanting to live in town. She purchased a home, and settled into life as an Eatonia resident. She enjoyed the down sized yard, and the chance to walk to the neighbors rather than drive. This move also made it possible for Noreen to live out a dream of visiting England and France and reconnect with some distant family.

Failing health prompted another move closer to more medical facilities and another group of wonderful people. Noreen settled into Caleb Place in Kindersley, and quickly adjusted to an easier life. She loved the residents, staff, food, activities and amenities that Caleb offered. Unfortunately, life threw her one more curveball and another move took her to Pioneer House in Lloydminster. It meant leaving her beloved friends and neighbors but moved her a lot closer to Laurie, Darren and her 3 grandchildren, Jenna, Cash and Carson. The grandchildren always brought a huge smile to Noreen’s face, and she continued to feed them candy and licorice at every chance as well as follow them around watching their numerous and various sports. The move also opened up opportunity to partake in some activities that she had not had easy access to in the past. She attended many music concerts, dinner theaters, jamborees and loved getting out to Laurie’s place, which was so much closer. She made a great circle of friends, and was loved dearly by all of the staff at Pioneer House.

On January 15, 2021, Noreen peacefully passed away at her home in Lloydminster, Alberta. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Darren) Bowman, her 3 grandchildren: Jenna, Cash and Carson Bowman, her brother Dennis (Linda) Punter and her sister-in-law Elvira Nagel. She had many wonderful nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Erwin “Chris” Nagel, her parents Les and Effie Punter, father-in-law Christian Nagel, mother-in-law Katherina Nagel, brothers-in-laws Carl Nagel, John Nagel, Edwin Nagel and Otto Wormsbecker, sisters-in-law Gertrude Nagel, Kathy Nagel and Victoria Wormsbecker. Rest easy mom, your journey was full of love and you will be dearly missed.

Due to COVID Restrictions there will be a Private Graveside Service held for Noreen at this time.

Donations in Noreen’s name may be made to Eatonia Oasis Living, Box 217, Eatonia, SK S0L 0Y0.
