Klippers Win Against Mustangs
By Kevin Martin
Wow! It was a magical night for the hometown Kindersley Klippers as they broke through their 3 game scoring slump in a very big way. The visiting Melfort Mustangs were on their heels as they fell behind 4 to 2 in the first period. The teams traded goals in the 2nd and the Klippers put it away in the 3rd. Even goaltender Cody Jaman got in the action by scoring an empty net goal!
The fans in attendance (officially #ed at 725) took great delight as the Klippers chased Melfort goalie Joel Favreau from the net after they scored their 4th goal. The Klippers took 7 penalties in a row compared to Melfort’s 4 and still managed to hold them. A magnificent effort all around gave the hometown heroes a very big and much needed win.
G-Macs guaranteed $2,500.00 for the 50/50 draw and that sparked much anticipation as to who would win the pot.
Shots on goal were almost even but Kindersley had 35 shots to 34 for Melfort. Former Klipper Boston Maxwell was the 1st star of the game and Klipper goalie Cody Jaman took 2nd star.
The Klippers currently sit at the bottom of the Global Ag Risk Solutions division with a record of 2 wins, 6 losses and 2 shoot out losses giving them a total of 6 points. The Battleford North Stars are in the top spot with 23 points.
Next game for the Kindersley squad is on Tuesday, October 18th as the Weyburn Red Wings make a stop at the WCEC. Puck drop is 7:30.
