Chris Oscar Becomes New Sun West Superintendent
Chris Oscar, currently the Principal at Westberry Elementary School in Kindersley, will become a Superintendent of School Operations with Sun West for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
“We are very pleased to have Chris join our senior administrative team,” commented Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore, “his enthusiasm and good-naturedness coupled with his varied experiences as a principal and teacher in a variety of schools will be a great asset.”
Originally from Brandon, Manitoba, Mr. Oscar graduated from Brandon University in 1993 with a four-year Bachelor of Arts. He obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary in 1995 and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008.
Mr. Oscar started his teaching career in Kindersley at Elizabeth School (K-7) in 1995, before accepting the Vice-Principalship/Senior History teacher position at Eaton School (K-12) in 2003. He then served as the Principal of Eaton from 2004-2007. After Eaton, Mr. Oscar served as Principal of Elizabeth School before accepting the Principalship at the newly reconfigured Westberry Elementary School (PreK-4) in 2008 and he is now completing his eighth year at Westberry.
“With my 20 years of school-based administrative experience in two different school divisions and my recent focus on Early Years Education,” stated Mr. Oscar, “I am really looking forward to taking my skills and experience into a Superintendency of School Operations position. I have been extremely blessed to have worked with such wonderful people at Eaton, Elizabeth and Westberry Schools, and now I look forward to the different challenges and opportunities that I will face in this new position with Sun West School Division.”
