Can You Say Nostalgia?

Well, on Saturday, April 27th, the Kindersley West Central Events Center was absolutely full of it! The Northern Pikes and Trooper came to town and the fans in attendance ate it up and had a fantastic time singing and dancing along to all the hits by both bands. The Northern Pikes have been around for 40 years and Trooper even longer, as they played all their hits and had the fans clapping and enjoying themselves every minute.

The Northern Pikes ended their set with biggest hit, She Ain’t Pretty, and the lead singer had the crowd helping with the chorus! Trooper paid homage to the late Thin Lizzy bassist and lead singer Phil Lynott with a rousing rendition of The Boys Are Back In Town. And for the first encore, they did a classic Doobie Brothers number and ended with Here For A Good Time.

All in all, it was a fun night with a little “older” crowd, as most of the younger fans didn’t grow up with these classic bands and their music. Trooper played all their big hits, with Raise A Little Hell getting the most cheers and audience singing. It brought back many memories of the days of our youth. This author had seen Trooper play in 1978 in Winnipeg and they were unbelievable then. And even this current lineup, though not the originals, they still performed well and kept true to the music and keeping the crown entertained. Lots of merchandise was for sale; shirts, hats, CDs etc., and it was obvious that fans loved the reminder of days gone by. Just good times with good music and good friends! What more can anyone ask for?
