Police Break up Fight at Burnaby Golf Course

Authorities intervened in a brawl involving numerous golfers at a course in B.C.’s Lower Mainland over the weekend, an incident reportedly triggered by breaches of golfing etiquette.

The altercation occurred at the Riverway Golf Course in Burnaby, where RCMP officers responded to an assault in progress on Saturday morning.

Social media footage shows multiple golfers engaged in punching and kicking each other on the course. Authorities confirmed that a woman was pushed to the ground during the confrontation, sustaining minor injuries.

In a statement, Cpl. Laura Hirst of the Burnaby RCMP detachment said that before the fight broke out, one group of golfers allegedly “almost hit” another group with their golf balls “on several occasions.”

While paramedics were called to the scene, the RCMP reported that no one required transportation to the hospital.

Several witnesses gave statements to police, he said, and the investigation is ongoing, but it is unknown whether any charges will be laid in the case.
